We do live near the ocean, so he does get to do his running by the beach. {in case you were already feeling sorry for him}
Anyway, let's get back to the book. Filled with inspiring shots like these. But there's so much more. Those of you who love Barbara will have read the updates on her Blog

Hearts. Made by you~know~who......available soon for sale at the Waterside Cottages Website. So wonderful for your own beach~side cottage, or as a gift. Even if you just dream of a beach~side cottage. Perfect.

Directions to make fun, sea~side projects like this Shell Candle Holder can be found on the site, too.
And then more shots of the book. All wonderful spaces to live. I love the soft, natural colors in this small vignette, the variety of hues from the dark Brown Wicker Chair to the Light Cream Table. Note the "Florida" Flamingo print and the Boat!
Another of my favorites. The light colors, the Starfish. This shot makes me just want to knock on their door and ask if they will adopt me. How relaxing to come home to this room, and there are so many interesting things and textures to see. I love the two Wood pieces over the French Doors.
All photos by Dan MayersThen, at the end of the day......this. Clean, crisp, and beautiful colors! Sweet dreams really are made of this. I love the color combination, and especially the Gingham Dust Ruffle. This makes me want to summer~up my own little home with some shells, and a cleaner look.
How do you get your home ready for summer? Let me know, I am always looking for a great idea.

How cute! We used to live in a waterfront beach house and decorated like that lol. Hey, the bistro plates and bowls came today they are so cute :) Love em. The sachet smells yummy too! Thanks :)
All the best,
Allison
Hi Lidy,
I can't wait to get a copy of that book too. I have a couple friends whose houses made it into that book (wish I could say mine was, but this is the next best thing ;) Love the Fifi hearts, I've got mine hanging all over the house and on the front porch. How nice your husband can take his runs on the beach, no excuse not to workout I guess. Happy night, sweetie.

Even though I live in the mountains now, I grew up by the sea. I always have seashells and watery colors around. I just love the rooms that you showed to us. They are so understated and comfortable looking. Thanks for sharing!
I have completely forgotten about this..., I'am heading over to Barbara's blog now. Thanks!
Everything is so lovely. But...it's all so empty. Where are all the people? Where are the brightly colored beach umbrellas and the children and the old folks? Where is all the fun?
Hi There! Love your blog it so pretty and vintage inspired! Going right now to check out your website!!

Just beautiful. I think I will have to have this book. Thank you so much for coming by my blog and the wonderful message you left about the garden. I have loved your blog since discovering it over a year ago. I was always too shy to leave you a message however. At that time I did not have a blog of my own.
Smiles,
June
These are stunning. While I prefer French vintage, there is something refreshing about these bright colors of the sea. Thank you for the inspiration! Anita

Oh.. what a GORGEOUS Post!!! I was just looking at those photos and dreaming that I was in one of those places instead of cloudy overcase Nebraska right now!
Thankyou so much for starting my day out with a smile. Reading what you wrote about me getting "it" from my day... made me smile and my eyes get a bit teary. I love the idea that I have "that" from him. It's one of the things I loved about him SO much!
Thanks Lidy!!
Just stopping by to say hi! The book looks fabulous and the pictures are incredible! I'm gonna check out her website, and catch up with your other beautiful posts too!
This was such a perfect inspiration post for me as I am currently redoing my bathroom in a soft, beachy feel.
Makes me want to go far away from the inland!
absolutely beautiful photos. and those vintage chenille pillows are so dreamy. they remind me of my nanny's bedroom.
oh yummy - loving this post and well, your whole blog really! I am hoping for a beachy cottage someday as we currently live the more citified condo life and I have huge jars of shells and plenty of rusty furniture as well as a hankering for more from the weekly flea market (sort of what my blog and lifestyle are all about trashes becoming treasures). I will be watching you, you talented gal.

Hi Everyone
Thanks for all of your nice comments about my book. One of the things I love about Dan's photos is how they make you feel like you are really there.
