Chair Love

In the middle of a busy day, I suddenly got the urge. I couldn't stand it anymore, I had to do it right away! I recovered this chair quite a few years ago with a pretty, Cream Roses print, which at the time, I absolutely loved. {I have a thing for chairs, always picking up strays here and there, but that's for another post, at another time}

There really was nothing wrong with this chair the way it was, except, I don't know, I looked around the living room this week and just...well, hated it! Do you ever have that? When it looked perfectly wonderful the day before, but then, yikes....all of a sudden you feel that little "un satisfied" monster appearing? When you know you want to change a few things? And your budget is kind of at 0.00?

So here was the chair, thinking to itself it was pretty cool, probably. Everyone else thought it was cute. Mr. FgH, poor guy, said "huh? What's wrong with it? It's just fine." {the kiss of death, as far as I'm concerned...just fine? not what I had in mind, at all. And a sure~fire way to make me want to change it}

So I looked at my fabric stash, and found a half of an antique French Grainsack. perfect! I put a little pillow form underneath, got out my trusty staple gun, and about ten minutes later, it was love at first sight, again. {"Kitty" our cat, being the most nosy cat in the universe, had to come see it right away. After putting the chair back in its regular place, he promptly jumped up, and fell asleep on the "new" chair.}

I bought some White flowers, re arranged some stuff on the coffee table, and thank goodness, all is well. for now. What do you do to change your home around when you aren't feeling happy about the way it looks? Let me know....I'm always interested in your ideas!

That looks great! I love the grain sack! I am so bad I usually just buy more stuff if I am not happy with something haha! How cute that your kitty claimed the chair LOL.

All the best,
Allison

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I'm that way about painted walls. All the sudden and I'm DONE. A chair cushion may be a much easier solution. Come by my new blog when you can, you're one of my blog favorites.

It is so lovely! A fabric stash is such a great idea and just swapping fabrics out really does make such a difference. When I need a change I mostly just re-arrange the room....the entire room, pictures and all. I also swap out curtains to fit my mood at the time, which is fairly easy to do with a neutral color scheme.

Thanks for sharing your minimakeover! Have a great weekeknd!

It looks wonderful Lidy! I do the same thing you do, I'll decide all at once that something has to change. I have a pretty good fabric stash and I'm always on the lookout for more (I just scored some great material at a yard sale for 25 cents!)so it isn't hard to come up with something new:>)

I love the makeover! I'm the same way, I get bored with stuff fast.

We are downsizing so I get to get rid of a lot of stuff, and hopefully get some new. I have a few ideas.

I am a chair collector too. We could start a club. I have a similar chair that I bought at the thrift store for 50 cents. It needed some repair and a new seat cover. It is one of my favorites. I have even dug chairs from dumpsters. I paint most of them. One time I was given a chair for helping a customer load her plants in her car. She had forgotten that she was on the way to Goodwill and had too much stuff in her car to fit her purchase...so I helped her out!

Your chair looks marvelous by the way, but I am surprised you didn't quilt it a cover.

I love the new look to your chair. That grain sack or antique printed linen fabric look is really popular these days.

I was just at the fabric store looking for that type of fabric to make some roman shades.

Love it!!

I do so love the grain sacks! I am known in my circles as The Dumpster Diva, having a panache for accumulating amazing finds for next to nothing! And yes, I do get that feeling of being DONE far too frequently I am afraid!

I rearrange things, pack away those things that I am tired of and then pull out the ones that I have forgotten about. I add fresh cut flowers from my gardens to give me a feeling of newness in my home, burn a scented candle and rearrange my furniture. I shop other rooms in my home for a new look, but then, there are times that I just can't do that. I am SO DONE that I have to simply give the room a real facelift! And that pretty much sums up where I am right now with about three rooms in our house right now. ;)

Perfect and French!!!

I have a chair which needs the same type of makeover, I keep looking at it and disliking its seat cover. Also, I still need to recover all my dining room chairs. Never enough time!

Love the quickie make over and the juxtaposition of the rustic fabric with the more formal chair. This duo makes a great statement.

Hello Frenchy (I couldn't find your name anywhere ;0),
I just stopped by to say thanks for visiting my blog and I simply love yours!!!
I've been bitten by the stray chair bug too, but mine never seem to make it to the upholstery girl...that would be me...and I have them stacked everywhere.
What do I do? Well, I move my accessories from room to room.

Have a wonderful Monday!

xoxo Cori

I have to say that I love your chair's new look. It seems that I look around and see things that need changing almost everyday. It's a weird thing, I just can't seem to get it right in this house!
