Blessings and Best Gifts for Babies

This past weekend was such a blessing. Our little grand "girl" was baptized. A sweet moment we will lock in our memories forever. She wore this antique Christening Dress, below. The sweetest hand embroidery, tiny tiny hand stitched pleats, and hand embroidered lace, too. How those ladies who made these didn't go crazy or blind, I don't know.

I hope you can see all this beautiful handwork when you enlarge the photograph. We have lost the ability to do embroider like that, I think, and the patience. I was so happy our little one was able to wear this.

Here she is, so tired, in her Mommy's arms at the end of the big event. (the dress was a little wrinkled mess, now I know why all the work was only on the front, #1. that's what most people see #2. it doesn't wrinkle!)

Having a new baby in the family has given me a great opportunity to enjoy all things Baby. Not only in vintage and antique (in case you thought I was totally stuck in the past) There are so many great products out there for babies and young children. I love that so many Moms are starting their own business, because they can't find what they want for their children anywhere else.

The girls at BLESSEDNEST sent me a wonderful gift, it arrived today! I could hardly wait to open it up. It's one of their Organic Nursing Pillows ~ I love this!

"The Nesting Pillow is so much more than just a nursing pillow, but it is the best nursing pillow available. The unique properties of the buckwheat hull filling make it possible to move it around like a bean bag to find the perfect position, and then the little pyramid-shaped hulls interlock together to conform to the shape and hold the position you need. Plus, the organic materials we use allow air to circulate to keep everyone cool and comfortable"

This pillow is all organic, and beautiful too. So many great covers, this is something that Mommy and Baby will use for many years to come.

How cute is this? I love the bright colors, and the fact that where baby touches the pillow, it's terry cloth. So soft, but firm, due to the buckwheat hulls.

Pink for those of you who love the shabby colors. (I'm thinking that after the baby is done with this pillow, what a great pillow for moi to use when reading in bed. or taking a little nap next to the fireplace. maybe I need my own)

Great prints, and one of the best gifts for a new Mom you could give. Especially for my blog readers, Blessed Nest was kind enough to offer you a 15% Discount. Just write the code: " Jolly " in the box at check out!

Thank you, Heather and Donna! I appreciate your gift, and that you work so hard to improve the lives of Moms and Babies. (Daddies too!)

Another great "Mom owned" business I love is Eli's Lids . Started by Kara Noel Lawson when she discovered she was having a Baby Boy, " I couldn't wait to go shopping for all things little boy. I quickly discovered that baby boys get the short end of the stick when it comes to fashion and style. While moms of little girls get to adorn their daughters with baubles, bows, flowers and jewels, moms of little boys are left with powder blue puppies…ug! I searched and searched for hats, clothes, blankets, bibs...ANYTHING that would fit my family's style.

My search resulted in styles that were cute, but way out of my price range. Not one to settle, I began developing my line, starting at the top with Lids! After multiple prototypes I came up with Lids for today’s hip baby. Whether your son is a surfer, skater, snowboarder or just plain rocks, I have created a Lid that will reflect your family's style without looking too (for lack of a better word) baby! (After baby girl Cora was born, the line expanded to have cool hats for cool little girls)

Cute, cute cute, and you will be amazed at the price and quality! Keeps those sweet little ears warm. Besides their obvious cool factor, they are well made right here in the USA. Love them.

Each one is so sweet, ummm cool, you might have to get several!

If you are totally into hats, you can shop for Eli's Lids to cover all the little heads you love. Okay, back to more decorating. and wrapping all the baby gifts.
